Planning a bridal shower is one of the many items on the 'to do' list of many bridesmaids. Here are some great bridal shower tips and unique ideas to make planning your bridal shower an easy and enjoyable experience.

Tips for hosting a bridal shower

Bridal showers usually take place 1 month prior to the wedding
Ask the bride for a guest list
Send out invitations 2 weeks prior to the shower
Ask guests to R.S.V.P. at least 1 week prior
Many times, a mother, mother-in-law, or other friends or family members host the bridal shower
Sunday afternoons are the most popular day/time to host a shower
Include where the bride is registered in the invitations
It is customary for the maid/matron of honor to be responsible for the expenses, however usually the bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law chip in.
Include a blank recipe card in each invitation, along with a note for the guest to share their favorite recipe.

Each guest will receive a 'time slot' on her invitation. (Here are some great 'round the clock invitations.) Make round sugar cookies and draw a clock on the front with food markers or frosting.
Here are some suggestions for time slots for a 'round the clock bridal shower:

6:00AM - 10:00AM - (MORNING) bath towels, bath accessories, bath rug, iron, ironing board, shower radio, pots, pans, spatula, coffee maker, toaster, kitchen towels, coffee mugs, muffin pan, whisk, blender, food storage, etc..
11:AM-3:00PM - (WORK/PLAY) vacuum, broom, dustpan, mop, laundry sorter, video camera, digital camera, camping gear, gardening tools, etc...
4:00P-6:00PM - (DINNERTIME) dinnerware, silverware, placemats, candlesticks, cookware, hotpads, stand mixer, glasses, serveware, food processor, pots, pans, baking dishes, measuring cups, baking sheets
7:00PM-9:00PM - (RELAX/ENTERTAIN) board games, toss pillows, a throw, stereo, DVD player, DVD's, serving trays, TV trays, TV, candles with holders, picture frames, folding table and chairs, vase, wall art, lamps, coffee table book
10:00PM-12MID - (BEDTIME) sheet set, comforter, duvet cover, bedskirt, pillow shams, pillows, blanket, alarm clock, matching his/her robes, candles, bedside lamp, guest room bedding, sleeping bags, and other night time gifts (that won't embarrass the bride!)

couple's shower - Get the groom-to-be in on the act! Invite the guys too and have a BBQ.
