- First things first. Scour over bridal magazines, wedding planner
books, TV shows, and online wedding resources. Clip photos, draw
sketches, and take notes in a Scrapbook/Journal
.
- Visit local bakeries, banquet halls and hotels, florists, and
caterers. Bring your journal/scrapbook and ask them if they could
create the look that you want. Check around for pricing within your
budget.

- Check out your local Michael's or other craft store. Look for sale,
clearance, or coupons for fabric, fabric ribbons, and supplies to make your
own custom centerpieces.
- Host a "centerpiece-making" party with friends in your bridal
party. Serve drinks and get the glue gun out! Ask for ideas and sketch
them out and practice, practice, practice!

- Go to the dollar store and pick up small clear votive holders. Also,
pick up some votives that match the wedding decor. Use these to
scatter on tabletops around centerpieces, or as a simple and elegant party
favor at each place setting.
- While at the dollar store, see if they have any small and simple picture
frames. You could also use these for party favors. Just create a small
poem, or thank you, or photo on your computer. Insert into picture
frames for an instant simple and elegant party favor.

- Check out Food
Network's Wedding Menu for ideas to choose and present to your caterer,
that is if the caterer that you choose is willing to try them. Ask
when you are interviewing caterers.
- Consider hiring a professional band, visit them at a gig to get a
sample of what they do and how they sound. Check several bands and DJs
before you make a decision. Do your homework and get references. See
how they will MC the party, it will make a difference. Don't you
remember "The Wedding Singer"???!
- Splurge on cloth tablecovers and napkins, and real dishes and
glasses. Check with your banquet hall, they are usually included, BUT
be prepared, they may charge extra for these.
- When visiting your local florist, find out what is in season at the time
of the wedding and what is in your budget. You will be surprised at
what beautiful flowers that you will find and what an impact it makes in
your decor.
- Try using a simple bud for each place setting. Lay unto folded
napkin on top of plate.
- Use freeze dried rose petals to scatter tabletops for a beautiful effect.

it, and it will save a lot of money.
-
Make your theme simple and elegant. Splurge on the
important items, and save where it's not needed, ie: matchbooks,
