So you are engaged.  Now what?

Six to Twelve Months Prior to the Wedding 

• Select a date and time
  

• Set a budget
  

• Make your guest list, including names and address'
  

• have fiance's family do the same
  

• Determine where the ceremony and reception will be held

• Visit clergyman to discuss arrangements
  

• Reserve a site for the reception
  

• Arrange for a catering service
  

• Choose a color scheme and wedding style or theme
  

• Select your attendants, have fiance do the same
  

• Order your wedding gown, headpiece, and accessories
  

• Order attendants dresses and best man and usher's tuxes
  

• Register for gifts at your favorite stores
  

• Hire a DJ or a band
  

• Hire a florist
  

• Hire a photographer
  

• Plan your honeymoon
  
  Four to Six Months Prior
  

• Order invitations
  

• Start addressing them as soon as they come in
  

• Order Thank you cards
  

• Shop with mothers for their dresses
  

• Reserve a limousine, carriage or other transportation to and from your wedding
  

• Order your wedding cake
  
  
  Two to Four Months Prior
  

• Finish Invitations
  

• Mail invitations at least 6 weeks prior
  

• Finalize all details with officiate, caterer, photographer, florist, DJ, Etc...
  

• Plan your rehearsal dinner
  

• Arrange lodging for out of town guests
  

• Make appointment with a hairdresser for the day of
  

• Check with local authorities for marriage license, blood tests, and waiting period requirements
  

• Select gifts for attendants
  
  One Month Prior
  

• Have final fitting of wedding gown
  

• Purchase shoes
  

• Have attendants get their final fittings
  

• Select groom's gift
  

• Send thank you notes as you receive gifts
  

• Draw up a seating plan for the reception
  

• Get all of your documents in order-- blood tests, marriage license, etc.

Two Weeks Prior

• Reconfirm all with caterer, florist, and photographer
  Arrange for name changes on driver's license, bank accounts, insurance policies, social security card, etc.
  

• Reconfirm honeymoon arrangements
  

• Finalize all with with attendants
  
  
  One Week Prior
  
  
  

• Delegate responsibilities to reliable individuals for your wedding day
  

• Finalize seating arrangements and place cards
  

• Finalize rehearsal dinner arrangements
  

• Wrap and present wedding party gifts at the rehearsal
  
  
  One Day Prior
  

• Pamper yourself- get a massage or manicure
  

• Stay with you family the night before and go to bed early
  
  
  Your Big Day
  
  

• Allow plenty of time to get ready
  

• Eat a good breakfast
  

• Go to the hairdresser
  

• Enjoy and cherish every moment of your special day!
